Japan Travel Tip: Discovering The Land of the Rising Sun
The country of Japan is located directly east of China, North Korea and South Korea in Asia. It comprises of many islands although majority of the population lives in Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku. A common Japan travel tip is the country's other name, The Land of the Rising Sun. This originated from the country's Japanese name, Nihon or Nippon which means the sun's origin. Another Japan travel tip is about the country's capital, Tokyo. Its formal name is actually Tokyo Metropolis which is the most populated metropolitan area in the world.
Tokyo Metropolis used to be the world's most expensive city. The city held on to this title for 14 years until Oslo, Norway's capital city, took over the top spot in 2006. Despite this Japan travel tip, Tokyo Metropolis continues to house some of the world's largest companies. After all, the government's headquarters is at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. This structure is also known as Tokyo City Hall.
A great Japan travel tip is to visit the Sapporo Snow Festival, one of the country's annual winter festivals. It involves the construction of structures made entirely from ice or snow. The participants come from different parts of the world although locals are also involved as well. Another good Japan travel tip is to celebrate the annual Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival. It's a grand fireworks competition between pyrotechnic companies from all over the world. The event is famous for seeing shapes that resemble famous anime characters such as Pikachu and Doraemon.
